For nearly 40 years, the Timmy’s Christmas Telethon was broadcasted across BC. Starting in 1977, the event was a fundraiser for the BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities / Easter Seals. The event brought together Lions/Lioness Clubs, donors, sponsors, Campers and Easter Seals House Guests all in an effort to raise awareness and funds for families and children with disabilities. As the media landscape began to change, so did the telethon. In 2016, the telethon saw its last televised event on Shaw TV following the closure of the Vancouver studio.
On November 20, 2017, a new Timmy’s Celebration of Abilities event will launch a new era in celebrating our past and welcoming the future.
The Timmy’s Celebration of Abilities, presented by Creed Capital Management, is a new evening of recognition and fundraising for Easter Seals BC/Yukon. The event embarks on a new era for Easter Seals BC/Yukon following the cherished history of the Timmy’s Telethon. The new event will be held at the Deeley Motorcycle Exhibition hall at 1875 Boundary Rd, Vancouver, BC (at Lougheed). We invite you to join us in celebrating our history and building a new future for individuals with disabilities.
We will be launching our new website over the next week, but if you would like to reserve tickets, or volunteer for this event, please contact Connie Silas, Executive Coordinator, Special Projects at firstname.lastname@example.org.
