39th Annual Paddle for the Kids
March 28, 2020 – Victoria
Every year members of the Victoria Canoe and Kayak Club paddle for 10 long and arduous hours taking a 75km journey from Brentwood Bay to their clubhouse on the Gorge. Through their generous pledges, they have raised over $350,000 for Easter Seals summer camps in BC.

The Paddle entails the circumnavigation of the Saanich Peninsula from Brentwood Bay to the Gorge Waterway: 65 kilometers – 10 to 12 hours. The full VCKC fleet of voyageur canoes makes the all-day trip, with members paddling in shifts.
The Lion’s Clubs of Central Saanich provide food, bus transportation and warm, dry rest areas along the route. This event follows a series of practice paddles in February and March. In the lead up to the Big Day, participating club members spend many Sunday hours on the water building their paddling skills, and are also engaged in spreading the word about PFTK and Camp Shawnigan, all in the cause of signing up sponsors.
Practice season begins on February 23, and there will be a day-long voyageur trip each Sunday thereafter until March 22. See the newsletter for details. To take part in the training practice paddles (open to all VCKC members), be at the Clubhouse by 8.30am on Sundays during the practice period. No previous paddling experience required.
