Look to the Skies – Drop Zone Thrills in its 20th Year

Easter Seals BC/Yukon is proud to announce the return of Drop Zone, an adrenaline-filled fundraiser where participants rappel off a towering skyscraper at one of 4 locations in BC in support of individuals with disabilities. Celebrating its 20th year, Drop Zone is a once-in-a-lifetime experience where participants face their fears and support a great cause!

“Drop Zone is a fundraiser like no other. There’s really no experience comparable to stepping off a building to raise funds to support people with disabilities,” shares Lisa Beck, President & CEO, Easter Seals BC/Yukon. “Every year, people of all abilities take this challenge and it’s truly inspiring to see passionate individuals in our community step up for others.”

The target for Drop Zone is to raise $400,000 in support of Easter Seals BC/Yukon’s programs and services for people with disabilities. Funds raised support accessible and inclusive summer camps in Squamish, Victoria and Kelowna, as well as the Easter Seals House in Vancouver. Widely known for past fundraisers such as the 24hr Relay, Easter Seals continues to raise funds to support life-changing programs. Drop Zone has raised $16 million to date throughout the country and is looking to build on the momentum.

“When I first suggested Drop Zone as our team activity, I was met with shock, but the promise of camaraderie and he chance to overcome fears together sealed the deal”, shares Gary from the City of Colwood. “We had people across departments come together and encourage each other! Watching colleagues conquer their fears and make it to the ground left everyone feeling inspired.” After they completed Drop Zone last year, the City of Colwood team continued to plan more team building events after work together, crediting Drop Zone as the catalyst.

Drop Zone will visit four cities in British Columbia, each location including on-the-ground activities in addition to the excitement of cheering on the rappellers. Visitors come to cheer on the rappellers and enjoy a live DJ, local vendors, fun activations and more.
