Easter Seals Volunteer Summer Camp
Empowering young adults with disabilities to participate in volunteering by providing the appropriate support, education and exposure to both volunteers and community organizations.
Developing Life Skills Through Volunteering
Join us for an experience in volunteering, connection, learning and fun! Each week, in the Ready. Set. Volunteer. program, participants will have a supportive learning experience with an organization that develops new connections and gives young adults a better understanding of their own needs and interests in looking for volunteer roles to engage in.
Ages: 17 – 29 years
Cost: $300/week ($240 for Week 3)
Dates Offered: July 24 – 28, July 31 – August 4, August 8 – 11 and August 14 – 18.
Pre-screening: Every participant registered will go through a pre-screening interview to ensure that Ready. Set. Volunteer. is appropriate for their skill and learning level.
* The Ready. Set. Volunteer. program is a new version of the City Adventure Day Camp program.

Week 1
July 24 – 28

Little Mountain Neighbourhood House
3981 Main Street, Vancouver
Practice skills in community service and join us for a week of volunteering at Little Mountain Neighbourhood House. Participants will connect with the community of Little Mountain Neighbourhood House and engage in regular volunteer activities.
- Learn what volunteers do in the Garden and Harvest program and similar community programming.
- Develop skills and learn how these activities are intertwined and important to making a healthy and resilient neighborhood.
* Drop off and pick up is at Easter Seals House, and volunteers will travel to Little Mountain Neighbourhod House together via transit.
Week 2
July 31 – August 4

Join this Art/Culture themed week and learn about ways to engage in the community of Vancouver and make new friends.
- Engage with artists
- Learn about different art forms and opportunities to engage in art in their community.
Week 3
August 8 – 11
9:00am – 3:00pm
YMCA
282 West 49th Avenue, Vancouver
Have fun with your peers at the YMCA at Langara in Vancouver and learn how you can make a positive impact on the people in your community through recreation.
- Play games and participate in some of the programming like badminton and basketball.
- Learn from staff on the skills and ways to volunteer at the YMCA.
- Learn what it takes to lead an exercise class, participate in sports, and mentor young people.
* Drop off and pick up is at Easter Seals House, and volunteers will travel to the YMCA together via transit.
Week 4
August 14 – 18

Learn about environmental and conservation related volunteer activities within the City of Vancouver.
- Turn trash into art and learn about the wonders of waste reduction.
- Explore nature in the city, as you meet and greet some of Vancouver’s feathered friends.
- Put your detective skills to work when you explore the city through a scavenger hunt.
- Help organize a neighborhood cleanup with the City of Vancouver.
- Learn about gardening and planting food in the garden at Easter Seals House, where fresh organic vegetables and herbs are grown.
