National AccessAbility Week (NAAW) is an annual celebration, taking place May 31 – June 6, 2026, promoting inclusion and accessibility, while recognizing the efforts of individuals and organizations who are working to remove barriers and create a truly inclusive Canada.
Easter Seals invites individuals to engage with accessibility and inclusion during this week through a number of initiatives.
Student Design Contest
March 30 – May 1
We are challenging students from Grades 5-8 and 9-12 to create a design that addresses the theme “Reimagining Play, Learning, and Community Through Accessibility“.
Submissions are due on May 1, 2026.
Red Shirt Day
Wednesday, June 3 2026
People across Canada come together and wear red to create a visible display of solidarity to show their support for people with disabilities and their families, and to celebrate their achievements.
NAAW Conference
June 2
Building an Accessible Canada: Ideas, Impact, and Innovation is a free national virtual conference hosted by Easter Seals Canada, in partnership with Indigenous Disability Canada / BCANDS and the Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work (CCRW). The event brings together a rich cross‑section of leaders, advocates, and community members to explore what accessibility looks like across Canada today, and what it can become.
Educator Resources
In collaboration with educators, we have created sample resources for teachers to help create lesson plans to further the conversation about inclusiveness and accessibility.
