Odlum Brown Limited to Serve as Presenting Sponsor for Drop Zone 2021 Event in Vancouver

Odlum Brown Limited is once again sponsoring the Vancouver Easter Seals Drop Zone event that challenges participants to step outside their comfort zone and rappel down the outside of the Guinness Tower on West Hastings, all in support of children and adults living with disabilities.

“We’re very grateful to be partnering with Odlum Brown Limited for another year as presenting sponsor of our Drop Zone event in Vancouver, and we’re excited to have them come on as a sponsor to our Drop Zone events also happening in Surrey and Burnaby,” says Lisa Beck, President and CEO of Easter Seals BC/Yukon. “They are very passionate about supporting children and adults living with disabilities, and know just how important programs like Easter Seals Camps are.”

The support from Odlum Brown Limited will help send children and adults with disabilities to Easter Seals summer camps throughout the province. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, day camps, online camps and family weekend camps are being offered in place of their week-long overnight summer camp experience that they have been offering for more than 50 years.

“Easter Seals Camps enable those with disabilities to have the full camp experience and participate in all the activities camp has to offer – and they’re the only organization in BC that provides that opportunity. We are so proud to be a part of that as the presenting sponsor,” says Debra Hewson, President and CEO of Odlum Brown. “The Drop Zone event Easter Seals hosts every year encourages us to get out of our comfort zone and challenge ourselves just like these amazing campers do every day.”

The Drop Zone event is open to both individuals and organizations, many of whom use the event to engage their employees and focus their fundraising efforts towards one worthy cause – Easter Seals.

“We hold the event right downtown during the business day, so companies like to make it part of an employee event, where everyone can watch and cheer each other on, whether it’s on the ground or from an office window,” adds Beck. “We’ve seen employees nominate a member of their leadership for a ‘Toss Your Boss’ day, and other departments band together to form a team to bring their employees together. It’s a lot of fun to see people come dressed as a superhero.”

Vancouver Easter Seals Drop Zone takes place all day at the Guinness Tower on Friday, September 17th, 2021, and as participants rappel individually down the building, Drop Zone is a no-contact event that makes it safe to participate in during the COVID-19 pandemic.
